Happy St. Patricks Day! We thought it would be fun to share 7 facts about St. Patricks Day you may not know. Why 7? Well the number 7 has a reputation for being lucky, therefore it went well with St. Patricks Day and the "luck of the Irish"!

1) Leprechauns are thought to be a tricksters fairy type, this you probably already knew. The fun fact is, according to Irish legend there are no female leprechauns.

2.) Chicago uses forty tons of dye to turn its river green every St. Patricks Day. This will be its 56th year of doing so since the first time in 1962! 

3.) St. Patricks Day use to be a dry holiday and observed in Ireland by going to church. America is actually where the party started! Since then Ireland has adopted the idea of St. Patricks Day being filled with parades and parties!

4.) St. Patricks Day has only been a national holiday since 1970!

5.) Irish legend has it, that St. Patrick used Shamrocks as a metaphor for the Holy Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Ghost) when he introduced Christianity into Ireland.

6.) St. Patrick was not even Irish, he was British!
